Samenvatting
Wanneer Jake Blues uit de gevangenis wordt ontslagen, bezoekt hij samen met zijn broer Elwood het weeshuis waar ze werden grootgebracht. Zuster Maria Stigmata vertelt hen dat de instelling in geldnood zit. De twee broers willen haar helpen maar ze moet hun gestolen geld niet hebben. De oudere conciërge Curtis, die hen heeft opgevoed en hun de liefde voor de muziek heeft bijgebracht, raadt hen aan wat vaker naar de kerk te gaan. Zo ontmoeten ze dominee Jones, die een vurige preek ten beste geeft, gevolgd door een geestdriftige gospel met het indrukwekkende kerkkoor. Terwijl de kerkgangers enthousiast meedansen, krijgt Jake een goddelijke ingeving: hij zal zijn vroegere Bluesband weer nieuw leven inblazen.Credits
